What is ABA?

“Applied behavior analysis is the science in which procedures derived from the principles of behavior are systematically applied to improve socially significant behavior to a meaningful degree and to demonstrate experimentally that the procedures employed were responsible for the improvement in behavior.” – Cooper, 1986

ABA (applied behavior analysis)  is an evidenced based treatment approach for analyzing and improving socially significant behaviors.  ABA  has an extensive scientific body of literature. Professionals make use of the principles of learning including operant and respondent learning under the guidance of Board Certified Behavior Analysts to improve socially significant behaviors.

Although ABA  has the largest evidence base and been shown to be a very effective treatment for individuals with Autism and other developmental delays, ABA  uses principles and procedures of behavior analysis to better understand and improve lives in a wide variety of areas including organizational behavior management, sports, safety, health and fitness, sustainability, and many other areas.

Frequent Questions

Does my child need a diagnosis of autism?

Although we provide treatment to increase skills for learners from  three to adulthood, regardless of the disability, for insurance reimbursement for ABA there must be a diagnosis of autism.

Many of our clients are self pay and we can discuss fee schedules during enrollment.

Does my child have to attend your clinic to have an assessment?

No.  We would be happy to administer any of the assessments and provide you with a report to share with your child’s school, as a second opinion, or your child’s current treatment team.

Who will be working with my child?

The programs offered at A.C.E. will include behavior therapists, BCaBA’s, and BCBA’s.  Depending on the program, and your child’s needs, there may be an individual behavior therapist conducting therapy.

What is your intake process?

Your first step is to call and make an appointment for a free consultation.  When we meet we will learn more about the needs and goals for your child and family.  We can determine if our service model and program will be a good fit, and begin the assessment process.
